Missouri is the perfect place to get the full winter experience without the threat of serious problems. The weather is consistently cold, but it rarely drops too far below freezing. While it will snow several times throughout the winter season, big snowstorms are very rare. This allows you to have fun in the snow without dealing with major travel delays. These are the four best places to go in Missouri this winter.

Forest Park

Forest Park is a huge urban park located in the heart of St. Louis. Forest Park is one of the top attractions in the city throughout the entire year, but it really comes alive in the winter. Art Hill is the most popular spot in St. Louis to go sledding after it snows. Forest Park is also the home of one of the largest outdoor skating rinks in the United States. There is just something magical about skating with the family surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Snow Creek

If you are interested in snowboarding and skiing in Missouri, then Snow Creek is a must-see destination. This ski resort is located in Weston, which is a small town just outside of Kansas City. Snow Creek has slopes designed for beginners and experts, so everyone will be able to have a good time. The ski area routinely opens at the beginning of December every year. Make sure to take advantage of the 12 hiking trails after you are done on the slopes.

Hidden Valley

Skiing and snowboarding is also available on the other side of the state at Hidden Valley. This popular ski resort is located in Wildwood, which is a suburb 30 miles west of St. Louis. Just like Snow Creek, there are ski slopes for beginners and experts. They also just recently opened a new tubing course.

Silver Dollar City

The popular Silver Dollar City theme park in Branson completely transforms every winter to celebrate the holiday season. The park is decorated with more than six million lights and an 80-foot Christmas tree. In addition to the normal rides and attractions, the park holds a festive parade and large-scale theater performance every day. The parade lets the kids get up close with Santa, Rudolph and their other favorite holiday characters.
